Started in February to garner interest in selling our local maple syrup as a fund raiser to support Leket's provision of sandwiches to hungry school kids in Israel. Scheduled to travel to Israel soon, wondered if the syrup would be ready for distribution!!! Learned about the weather conditions needed for the sap to be ready for tapping and the long time it takes to produce the syrup. Well, finally received the Ontario Maple Syrup 3 days before flying out! (stressful?). On the day of flying out, 99.5% would be distributed, hooray! Thanks much to all who supported this fund raise. Money order already bought with ALL the funds collected (from sale and cash donations) and looking forward to handing it to Leket Israel when my friends and I volunteer in gleaning in the fields. Looking forward to this experience and learning how Leket makes use of produce left behind in the fields by the local farmers that do not meet market "standards" (meaning, not perfect in shape, colour, or "looks") Hmmm, God loves us in our brokenness, weakness, shortcomings and all, and that He did not spare His Son, Jesus, to take the penalty of our sin, and make us whole, perfect in His sight. What an awesome God!

Preparing for the Adventure
10 days on land in Israel - 4 days in Jerusalem and 6 days 5 nights with the Jesus Trail tour. The trip was planned to be budget minded! WHAT to take, what to leave behind! This time, without a guide, without a group leader, but with friends, looking forward to do our own thing in Jerusalem before heading to walk the 60 km Jesus Trail. For sure, I am excited that we would be volunteering with Leket in gleaning the fields of produce for their "food bank" and in sifting dirt at the Temple Mount sifting project, while stationed in Jerusalem. Lots to see in this city too.
